Work/Go/Be etc. are infinitives. The infinitive
We use the infinitives will/can/must etc.:

We use the infinitive do/does/did:

Do/Does (Present simple) | Do you want to go to dinner? I don’t understand the rules. She does want to come. Mary doesn’t have time tomorrow. |
Did (Past Simple) | Karen did wave goodbye. I didn’t have time to complete the form. |
We use the infinitive to work/to go/to be etc. (to + infinitive)

We use the infinitives working/going/playing etc.
