01 / Who This Is For

Who English tuition in Batley helps.

Parents looking for an English tutor in Batley usually come to us when they notice one of these:

  • They read it fine — then can't explain the answer They understand the text, but their written answers don't show it.
  • They lose marks for spelling, punctuation or grammar Mistakes that should be fixed by now keep costing them marks.
  • They have ideas, but can't get them onto the page They know what they want to say. The writing doesn't show it.
  • An exam is on the horizon SATs, 11+, GCSE English Language or GCSE English Literature are coming up.
  • They lose confidence when tasks feel open-ended Long writing tasks or unfamiliar texts make them freeze up.
02 / What May Be Happening

Same low mark. Different cause.

Two children can get the same English score for completely different reasons.

  • One may struggle to understand the question.
  • Another may know the answer, but write it too vaguely.
  • A third may understand the text, but not know how to explain evidence.

More worksheets won't fix a problem we haven't named yet.

03 / Free Assessment

Name the real gap before lessons begin.

The assessment is a short, guided English check — done in person at our Batley centre, or online.

By the end, we can tell you exactly where the breakdown is happening.

04 / How tuition follows

After the assessment, tuition follows the plan.

The assessment shows what to fix first. Your child's English tutor then works from that plan — not a generic worksheet pack.

  • Secure the foundations — reading, vocabulary, grammar or sentence structure, whatever's holding everything else back.
  • Build exam marks — analysis, essay structure, exam technique, and the confidence to write under pressure.
05 / Before You Decide

What you'll know by the end.

  • A clear picture of where your child is in English.
  • The specific areas that need work first.
  • A recommended tuition plan — if it would actually help.
  • No pressure to continue either way.

06 / Questions

The questions parents ask most.

Is the English assessment really free?

Yes. There is no payment to book the assessment and no obligation to take tuition afterwards. We use it to identify where your child is losing marks in reading, writing, comprehension or exam answers before recommending tuition.

What if I do not know what my child needs in English?

That is exactly what the assessment is for. Many parents know their child is struggling with English but cannot tell whether the real issue is reading, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, essay writing, exam technique or confidence.

Do you support primary, 11+, secondary and GCSE English?

Yes. We support pupils from primary school through to GCSE — covering reading, writing, SATs preparation, 11+ English, secondary English, GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature.

Can you help with 11+ English entrance exams?

Yes. We prepare pupils for 11+ English including comprehension passages, creative writing tasks, verbal reasoning and timed practice. After the assessment, we focus on the specific areas that need the most work.

Can you help with GCSE English Language and Literature?

Yes. We support GCSE English Language and English Literature, including reading questions, writing tasks, essay structure, quotations, analysis, timing and exam technique.

How do English lessons work?

Lessons start from the gaps found in the assessment, not a generic worksheet pack. A qualified teacher guides the plan and your child's tutor delivers focused English lessons based on reading, writing, comprehension, grammar, analysis or exam technique.

How much does English tuition cost?

English tuition starts from £14.50 per hour in a group of 4–5, £22.50 in a small group of 2–3, or £39.50 one-to-one. We confirm the suitable option and price after the free assessment.
