We support Higher and Advanced Higher pupils across Scotland and the UK,
live online and matched to the SQA course. In-person also available at our Batley centre.
What we offer
Higher & Advanced Higher tuition online.
Live, one-to-one tuition for SQA Higher and Advanced Higher — matched to
your child’s course, in Maths, English and the sciences — with the exam and
university preparation that decides the grade.
The three areas we work on:

The university entry qualification
Higher
Higher is the main qualification for Scottish university entry.
We focus on secure understanding, prelim and exam preparation, and the exam technique
that turns knowledge into the grade your child needs.
The most advanced school qualification in Scotland, with more
independent study and often a project or dissertation. We support the depth, structure
and technique universities value — keeping the work the student’s own.
University offers usually rest on Higher grades, and the gap
between understanding a topic and scoring it in the exam is where most marks are lost.
We work through past papers and SQA marking instructions, prepare for prelims, sharpen
exam technique, and target the exact topics putting an offer at risk — so your
child walks into the exam ready to secure the grade.
Is your child finding Higher or Advanced Higher difficult, stressful or hard
to keep on top of? The step up from National 5 is sharp, the pace is fast, and the grades carry
real weight — Highers decide university offers, and Advanced Higher demands a level of
independence that catches some pupils out.
We tutor Higher and Advanced Higher online in Maths, English and the
sciences, matched to the SQA course. Whatever the level, our tutors assess first, find
the gap, then teach your child step by step.

Online Higher tutors
Higher is the qualification universities make offers on, so this is where most families want
focused help. The jump from National 5 is steep — more content, more depth, less time. We
secure understanding, work through past papers and SQA marking instructions, prepare for
prelims, and sharpen the exam technique that turns knowledge into the grade.

Online Advanced Higher tutors
Advanced Higher is the most demanding school qualification in Scotland, closer to first-year
university in depth and independence. Many subjects include a project or dissertation. We
support the deeper understanding, the planning and structure behind the project, and the study
skills the step up relies on — while keeping all coursework the student’s own.

Securing the grades for university
University offers usually rest on Higher grades, and a single subject slipping can put an offer
at risk. We identify exactly which subjects or skills are the danger, then target them through
focused exam and prelim preparation — so your child can meet the grades their offer
depends on.
Families come to us for an online Higher or Advanced Higher tutor when they notice
one of these:
A university offer depends on the gradesOne subject is at risk of falling below
what the offer requires.
The jump from National 5 hit hardThey coped at National 5 but Higher’s
pace and depth have knocked them.
The Advanced Higher project has stalledThey know the subject but can’t
structure or progress the project or dissertation.
There’s no good tutor nearbyIn a rural area, a remote part of Scotland,
or with a tight schedule — online makes a specialist tutor reachable.
The prelim went badlyThe prelim result was a wake-up call and there’s
time to turn it around before the exam.
02/ What May Be Happening
Same low mark. Different cause.
Two pupils can get the same Higher mark for completely different reasons.
One knows the content but loses marks on exam technique — not
showing working, or not answering what the question actually asks.
Another has a gap from National 5 that the Higher course quietly
builds on and exposes.
A third understands it in class but can’t work independently
at the depth Advanced Higher demands.
More past papers won’t fix a problem we haven’t named yet.
03/ Free Assessment
Name the real gap before lessons begin.
The assessment is a short, guided check — done live online, or in person at our Batley
centre.
By the end, we can tell you exactly what’s capping the grade — whether it’s a
gap carried up from National 5, exam technique, a specific subject, or the independence Advanced
Higher demands.
04/ How tuition follows
After the assessment, tuition follows the plan.
Lessons work from your child’s own SQA course, past papers and prelim
questions over a shared screen — not a generic worksheet pack. Our DBS-checked tutors
follow the plan from the assessment, so each lesson targets the specific gap capping the grade.
Secure the foundations — any National 5 gaps the Higher course is quietly
built on.
Build the exam marks — exam technique, prelim preparation, and the grades
a university offer depends on.
05/ Before You Decide
What you’ll know by the end.
A clear picture of where your child is at Higher or Advanced Higher.
The specific subject or skill capping the grade right now.
A recommended tuition plan — if it would actually help.
No pressure to continue either way.
You only need to know the grade has stalled. We’ll show you the
rest.
06/ Questions
The questions parents ask most.
Is the online Higher assessment really free?
Yes. There is no payment to book the assessment and no obligation to take
tuition afterwards. We do it live online to find your child's Higher or Advanced Higher gaps
and explain the clearest next step before any paid lessons begin.
How do online Higher lessons actually work?
Lessons are live and one-to-one over video, not recorded content. The
tutor and student share a screen to work through SQA course material, past papers, prelim
questions and marking instructions together, annotating as they go. All you need is a laptop
or tablet and an internet connection.
Do you follow the SQA course and Curriculum for Excellence?
Yes. Tuition is matched to your child's SQA course at Higher or Advanced
Higher and to Curriculum for Excellence, including the relevant exam content, coursework and
the project or dissertation, so lessons line up with what your child is doing at school.
What's the difference between Higher and Advanced Higher, and do you cover both?
We cover both. Higher is usually taken in S5 and is the main qualification
for Scottish university entry, while Advanced Higher is taken in S6, is the most advanced
school qualification, and involves more independent study and often a project or
dissertation. We assess first to confirm the level and where the gaps are.
Can you help my child secure the grades for a university offer?
Yes. University offers usually rest on Higher grades, so the assessment
identifies exactly which subjects or skills are at risk of falling below the offer, and
lessons then target those gaps through prelim and exam preparation, exam technique and
past-paper practice.
Can you help with the Advanced Higher project or dissertation?
Yes. We support students with the planning, structure and technique behind
the Advanced Higher project or dissertation, while keeping the work the student's own in
line with SQA rules. We guide and develop skills rather than write any part of the
coursework.
How much does online Higher and Advanced Higher tuition cost?
Online Higher and Advanced Higher tuition is taught one-to-one from £45
per hour — exact rate confirmed after the free assessment.

The approach has stayed the same since the centre opened: find the gap first, then teach it
— whether lessons are in person or online.
