One-to-one tuition across the full A Level — matched to your exam board
— covering the recording, the decision-making, and the written analysis that decides the
grade.

Financial Accounting
Double-entry, ledgers and the trial balance, accruals and
prepayments, depreciation, control accounts and reconciliations, and preparing final
accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
Marginal and absorption costing, break-even, budgeting and
variance analysis, standard costing, and investment appraisal (payback, ARR and net
present value).
The skills that separate a B from an A* — interpreting
ratios and statements, justifying recommendations, and writing developed analysis and
evaluation on the extended questions rather than stopping at the numbers. Accuracy and
correct layout matter too: small format and arithmetic slips quietly drain marks across
a long paper. This is where most students plateau, and where focused tuition moves the
grade most.
Students and parents come to us for an Accounting tutor in Batley when they notice
one of these:
They can do the numbers but can’t break a BThe computations are fine. The
marks stall on the written analysis and evaluation.
The final accounts don’t balance — and they can’t find whyOne
wrong entry early on quietly breaks everything that follows.
Exams are coming upFinal A Level papers, mocks, or a Year 12 to 13 jump that
suddenly feels steeper.
Ratio and statement questions get vague answersThey calculate the figure but
can’t interpret what it means for the business.
Marks leak from accuracy and layoutFormat slips, mislabelled headings and
arithmetic errors add up across a long paper.
02/ What May Be Happening
Same low mark. Different cause.
Two students can get the same Accounting grade for completely different
reasons.
One understands the theory but makes a single entry slip that
breaks the whole set of accounts.
Another gets every figure right but never interprets or evaluates
it, so the written marks stay out of reach.
A third knows the method but loses marks to layout and accuracy on
every statement.
More past papers won’t fix a problem we haven’t named yet.
03/ Free Assessment
Name the real gap before lessons begin.
The assessment is a short, guided Accounting check — done in person at our Batley
centre, or online.
By the end, we can tell you exactly what’s capping the grade — whether it’s a
content gap, double-entry accuracy, statement layout, ratio interpretation, or written analysis
and evaluation.
04/ How tuition follows
After the assessment, tuition follows the plan.
The assessment shows what to fix first. The Accounting tutor then works from that
plan — on real exam questions and mark schemes, not a generic worksheet pack. Our
DBS-checked tutors follow the assessment plan, so lessons target the specific skill capping the
grade.
Secure the foundations — accurate double-entry, clean statement layout,
and the core techniques that financial and management answers depend on.
Build the higher marks — interpreting ratios and figures, justified
recommendations, and developed analysis and evaluation on the extended written questions.
05/ Before You Decide
What you’ll know by the end.
A clear picture of where the student is in A Level Accounting.
The specific skill or topic capping the grade right now.
A recommended tuition plan — if it would actually help.
No pressure to continue either way.
You only need to know the grade has stalled. We’ll show you the
rest.
06/ Questions
The questions students & parents ask most.
Is the Accounting assessment really free?
Yes. There is no payment to book the assessment and no obligation to take
tuition afterwards. We use it to find your A Level Accounting gaps and explain the clearest
next step before any paid lessons begin.
My child can do the numbers but can't get past a B. What's going on?
This is the most common A Level Accounting pattern we see. The grade
ceiling is rarely the calculations — it's the higher-mark skills: interpreting ratios
and statements, justifying recommendations, and writing developed analysis and evaluation on
the extended questions, alongside the accuracy and layout that protect marks across a long
paper. The assessment pinpoints which of these is costing the marks.
Which exam board do you cover?
AQA is the main A Level Accounting specification, and tuition is matched
to your child's exam board — including its specific question styles, statement formats
and mark schemes. Tell us the board at the assessment and we'll work to it.
Do you cover both financial and management accounting?
Yes — the full A Level: financial accounting (double-entry through
to final accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies, plus ratio analysis) and
management accounting (costing, budgeting, variances and investment appraisal), along with
the written analysis and evaluation the papers reward most heavily.
What happens after the assessment?
We explain what the student can do securely, where the Accounting gaps
are, and what needs to be fixed first — whether that's a specific topic, double-entry
accuracy, statement layout, or evaluation technique. If tuition is suitable, we recommend
the clearest next step and how lessons would work.
How do lessons work?
Lessons start from the gaps found in the assessment, not a generic
worksheet pack. A qualified teacher guides the plan and our DBS-checked Accounting tutors
deliver focused one-to-one lessons, working on real exam questions and mark schemes. Pace is
set by the student's understanding, not a timetable.
How much does A Level Accounting tuition cost?
A Level Accounting is taught one-to-one from £45 per hour —
exact rate confirmed after the free assessment.
